Advanced bioseparations

The field of proteomics (and indeed also a wide range of allied "omics") has greatly stimulated research in bioseparations.  Chiefly through research at Monash University, Australia has a high international profile in bioseparations and it is important to capitalise on this position.  Current research in this area involved capillary electrochromatographic methods wherein chromatographic stationary phases are packed into capillaries used traditionally for capillary electrophoresis.  The resultant devices can separate species based on both chromatographic and electrophoretic principles.  Again, there is a strong record in this area of patented research and commercialisation.
