The probable national benefits from the research in chemometrics, and mechanisms for capturing these benefits

The establishment of a network in analytical science as proposed by the formation of ARNAS will provide a number of benefits to the commercial and academic communities in Australia.

  • The network will enable staff in industry and academia to search for and make contact with a skilled project partner.
  • Training courses for the professional development of staff can be established and marketed through the network.
  • Industry will be able to get help and assistance on implementing the most appropriate analytical tools through the 'one-stop' shop afforded by ARNAS. Feasibility studies on the best tools for a task will be able to be arranged with appropriate experts.
  • The network will provide up-to-date and relevant information on commercial and be-spoke chemometric software.

A national chemometrics group within ARNAS would provide a key facility for developing interdisciplinary links and programs bringing together instrument manufacturers, industrial and commercial users, and the academic community in analytical science, engineering, biosciences, etc.
