Significance

The significance of proposed network is that, for the first time, Australian analytical science will have the ability to respond in a coordinated manner to national needs and strategies.  Currently, Australia is conspicuous on the world scientific scene because of our lack of a formalised network in analytical science.  Extensive networks of this type exist in USA, Europe and UK and these provide clear and successful templates for ARNAS and will facilitate widespread international connections for ARNAS.

The initiative will provide opportunities to assemble Australia’s foremost analytical scientists in order to lay the foundations for a long-term research network.  This degree or type of collaboration has not previously been attempted within analytical science in Australia, however the size of the relevant community is numerically ideal for nationwide networking.
