Scope of Report

This report arises from an application to the Australian Research Council for seed funding under the Special Research Initiatives program for the establishment of research networks. 

In view of the very short time frame provided for preparation of this report, and the limited funding received ($10,000, which was 20.8% of the funds requested), this report is very much less comprehensive than envisaged in the original seed funding application.  Neither of the two proposed national workshops has been held and the proposed bibliometric survey has been greatly restricted in scope.  Nevertheless, the ARNAS proposers listed above hope that this report conveys some sense of the state of analytical science in Australia and the major role that analytical science will play in the future of this nation.
